What is the Brazilian Blowout?
I’d like to just take a moment and explain exactly what the “Brazilian Blowout” is. In fact, the term “Brazilian Blowout” is a trademarked brand name – in reality just a process of a way of doing hair. It’s often misconstrued and explained wrong as there are a number of “Brazilian” hair techniques on the market at the moment. So, you’ll want to make sure you are getting the right results for what you are searching for. Let’s visit for a moment, exactly as the company does, what the Brazilian Blowout is. Their official website states:
“The BRAZILIAN BLOWOUT is the most innovative and effective professional smoothing treatment in the WORLD! Through the use of a Brazilian Super Nutrient Complex and a proprietary polymer system, the Brazilian Blowout actually improves the condition of the hair by creating a protective protein layer around the hair shaft to eliminate frizz and smooth the cuticle. The end result is smooth, healthy, frizz-free hair with radiant shine! What makes us different? The ONLY Professional Smoothing Treatment that improves the health of the hair. No Damage! Entire treatment completed in just 90 minutes! No down time! The minute you leave the salon, you can wash and air dry your hair, and it will be smooth, frizz-free and radiant! Results last up to 12 weeks. Leaves hair smooth and frizz-free WITHOUT harsh chemicals. Acai aftercare products ensure longest lasting results.”
Please don’t confused the Brazilian Blowout technique with anything else. This is a keratin treatment and uses absolutely no chemicals. There are some other processes you can find online which have references to formaldehyde and other dangerous chemicals in them – this process does not! Since it is a fairly expensive treatment, you want to make sure you are getting what you are paying for. Make sure that your stylist is certified for the “Brazilian Blowout”. You can find a salon that has certified stylists on our site (through the “Find a Salon) link, or on the company’s official site. If your stylist is not certified, don’t get it from them! Or at least, ask them to get certified first!

How old do u have to be to get a brazilian blowout
@Moriah
Whether you’re African American or not, I don’t believe you know for sure if “most” black women have short, dull hair. I am African American. The women in my family have long, thick and unruly hair. My friends keep their hair healthy and shiny using techniques which work for them personally: a combination of at-home treatments and salon visits, which is how I tend to my own hair.
African American women just need honest,caring guidance about their hair and how to care for it. I would consider a Brazilian Blowout if I could afford one. I would also also encourage black women to seek out new, safe methods of achieving manageable hair, whether they be conventional or unconventional. The same things don’t work for everyone because African American hair comes in many different textures and varieties.
Try not speaking for everyone else; and put down on this investment if your so concerned with the state of African American hair on women.
Applenini – Who the hell are you talking about, asswipe?
FDA says that the Brazilian Blowout has chemicals and is a chemical and that its misleading people to think its chemical free. It safe to use as any perm but with a perm u know what ur getting, there are no gimics (google it). So Mikki was right. Its a more expensive straighter. Well I am black with kinky hair and I get perms and hair treatments and I get my hair blown out by the Dominicans and my hair is very healthy. No matter what u use people, its all about hair care. To each its own.
A Brazilian blowout is a brand of keratin hair treatment, a Dominican blowout is a heat styling technique. I say that because it sounds like some people are getting them confused. BRAZILIAN BLOWOUT is a brand of Keratin treatment just like Motions is a brand of relaxer. If your stylists isn’t using this brand of keratin treatment your results maybe different. Finally, if you are paying $40 for the treatment something is wrong and your stylist probably isn’t certified, a keratin treatment usually runs about $300 and lasts about 3 months.
Ok everyone ,I am Brazilian and I’ve been used this(escova progressiva) in portuguese for so long before came in US as a blowout thing. Well it is a good thing for your hair and last for about 16 weeks but is real quimical with keratin for sure .I recomend use it two or three times only a year . More than that I think could be unhealth for your hair.
Would this blowout be safe for a thirteen year-old girl?
racist bi**h
i really want a brazilian blowout. i have medium thickness, shoulder length hair, and its wavvy with tight curls at the bottom. should i get it?
I’m an African-American and West Indian woman with thick, dark brown hair approximately 13-15 inches from the scalp. I used to use Motions, but it did nothing for me except damage it more by thinning and drying my hair out. My stylist uses Brazilian Blowout and has me leaving the shop with smooth and silky hair every time. It definitely repaired my damaged cuticles (caused by box perms) and has almost grown back out to its original length. I had to get my hair cut down 4-6 inches (originally 15-18 inches from the scalp) because my ends were so brittle and dry. It wouldn’t hold any style and just frizzed up all the time. Brazilian Blowout (in conjunction with Vitale Pro) has restored lost nutrients, shine, fullness, and bounce. I couldn’t be more happy with this product. Every time I visit her, I’m excited to get my hair done. It amazes me that there are REAL professionals out there who will educate you and take their time in doing you right. I trust her wholeheartedly – she’s been in the business for 35 years. So yes, $60 is well spent for every Vitale Pro perm (w/ tea tree shampoo wash and hair masque) I receive per six weeks as well as $40 for every Brazilian Blowout treatment I receive per four weeks. I also use a therapeutic brush ($22), Vitale Pro gold oil moisturizer ($15), and Vitale Pro shining gloss ($30). Brazilian Blowout and Vitale Pro product lines have done sooooo much for me.
This article stated, ” This is a keratin treatment and uses absolutely no chemicals. There are some other processes you can find online which have references to formaldehyde and other dangerous chemicals in them – this process does not” If that is true than why does the picture that is with the article show both customer and stylist wearing chemical masks????
I am an experienced and licensed hairstylist who happens to be
African-American and from personal and professional experience this IS NOT the same as a relaxer. Research must be done regarding what brand is best for you/your client but shiney smooth, frizz free hair can be achieved without breakage, damage or permanently altering your hair’s texture. Improper use of heat over long periods of time can result in the change of your natural curl pattern, though, regardless of the treatment used.
@Mikki…
I am also an african american woman and I can guarantee you that the Brazilian Blowout is not NEARLY as harmful as a out of the box permenant. Have you ever stopped to wonder why most african american women have extremely short dull hair? it’s most likely due to the $5 boxes of crappy hair relaxers. and if youve ever had a brazilian blowout done you would clearly see, and smell the difference. so if YOU would educate yourself, that would be amazing.
To EVERYONE ON THIS SITE. BEING A AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMAN AND HAVE EXPERIENCE IN HAIR STYLING I WANT TO INFORM YOU THAT ALL A BRAZILIAN BLOWOUT IS…IS A RELAXER OR IN ANOTHER TERM A PERMANENCE FOR PEOPLE WITH FINE TEXTURES OF HAIR PLZ STOP WASTING YOUR MONEY AT THESE SALONS PAYING ALMOST 300 TO WHATEVER AMOUNTS OF MONEY BECAUSE THEY ARE CHARGING YOU ARMS AND LEGS FOR A BOX PERM THAT’S 5 OR 6 DOLLARS DO YOUR OWN HAIR EDUCATE YOURSELVES ON HAIR PEOPLE!!!!!
What type of hair can receive Brazilian blowout
Its kind of wierd I have sort of wavy hair and when i got it done it was AMAZING shiney and straight everyday and grew way faster than ever before with alot less breakage. I have heard that people with curly hair it differs? A lady had really curly hair and it just made them looser and shiney and she loved it still being able to have curls but if you just have kinda curly hair im pretty sure that you will loose ur curls you have to have REALLY tight curls to do a brazilian blowout. Different salons do it different ways so before doing it I would check different places asking how they do it and what they use? hope this helps!!!
That’s not just the best aneswr. It’s the bestest answer!
I did the brazilian blowout at the salon and it worked great for me! I then purchased the shampoo and conditioner and it has prolonged the effects of the blowout from the salon.
I didn’t really have any bad reactions to it.
Can you please tell me where this Brazilian Blowdry is available in Miami? Thank you
quisiera saver si existe algun local o establecimiento que manege el tratamiento de brazilian blowout en tijuana Baja California Mexico
I had The Brazilian blowout done last November & loved the effects, I want to get it done again but was wondering how soon after having blond foils can I get it done, like how many days or weeks? My hair went lighter last time & that was after about 3 weeks of having the foils done & I thought the colour lasted longer too, would I be correct in saying that?
Thanks Gerrie
I had the Brazilian blow dry done to get rid of some of the frizz in my naturally curly hair and for it to be smoother and for me to be able to sometimes wear it straighter. Oh lordy after 4 weeks my curls are gone, when I scrunch my hair its extremely difficult to even get a wave out of it and yet my stylist (after I checked with him many times BEFORE having it done) said that my curls would still be there only smoother. Its awful as now I am left with an in between style, which is neither straight nor curly and am now dying for it to wash it. have decided that I am going to wash out with my normal shampoo from now on as I just want it in my hair anymore.
Does anybody know if this is the best thing to do to get rid of the treatment or will I have to grow it out and continue to use the straighteners which are damaging my hair even further???
Please help! All suggestions/advice welcome. I just want my curls back
